New Certification: All classes are mandatory.
Class Schedule:
- Thursday, May 22nd – 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM
- Friday, May 23rd – 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM
- Saturday, May 24th – 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Sunday, May 25th – 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Re-certification Day:
- Sunday, May 25th – 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM
Course Overview:
This course is conducted by a Certified American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor and Water Safety Instructor. Upon successful completion, students will be certified in the following:
- Lifeguard Certification
- First Aid Certification
- CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
Age Requirement:
- The course is open to individuals ages 15 and up.
- MUST be 15 years old by May 25, 2025, to enroll.
Pre-requisite Skills:
- Swim 300 yards continuously using freestyle, demonstrating breath control and rhythmic breathing.
- Tread water without using hands for 2 minutes.
- Complete a 100-second timed event:
- Start in the water, swim 20 yards without goggles,
- Surface dive to 7-10 feet (head or feet first),
- Retrieve a 10 lb object and return to the surface,
- Swim 20 yards back to the starting point while holding the object with both hands, ensuring your face remains above water.
- Exit the water using a ladder.
Reimbursement Policy:
The registration fee for the lifeguard certification class will be reimbursed if you are employed as a lifeguard for the Northern Lehigh Recreation Authority (NLRA) at the Northern Lehigh Pool and remain employed for the entire summer season.
